Angel Investment
Angel investors, also known as a business angel or informal investor, is a wealthy person who offers capital for a trade start-up, more often than not in barter for exchangeable debt or ownership equity. A little but increasing number of angel investors systematized themselves into angel groups or angel networks to contribute to research and pool their venture capital.
One of the very investing basics is to make sure that you have good people around you to help you gain some more revenue. However, never try moving in a flock, but be a pack animal. Keep in mind that information will always be scattered around. A particular angel may know the market, but he or she does not know everything about it. Make sure that you have several people to work with who knows a thing or two about every factors that you need to know.
You should also develop the art of saying no. All businesses can give you different scenarios, but it does not mean that you say yes to every business you see. Analyze the situation and see if saying yes is beneficial for you, otherwise, it would be a wasted investment.
You also need to make sure that you have a brand. This simply means that you need to make sure that investors will see you in a specific way that is unique to you. Once they see that you have this kind of initiative, they will be more than willing to do business with you.
Of course, when you are sitting there all day and people are asking for money and more often than not you are saying no, it eventually goes to your head. Keep your humility intact and never get the air blow your head. Great investors are often the simple ones so as mentioned above, analyze your situation to see if all is good.
DIY to Economize
The world’s economy has been quite a roller coaster over the last couple of years. It all started during the Lehman Brothers downfall and everything as we know it changed. Inflation rate is up, companies are closing, and people are losing jobs.
After a few years, we have been able to recover little to nothing, but at least people are starting to get jobs again, albeit not that much. At this point, people would end up doing things themselves when they would normally hire someone professional to do it for them.
The idea applies inside the house, too. Right now, when people needs to economize, the best solution is to DIY – do-it-yourself. It simply makes good economy move to make sure that you do not pay overpriced services if you can actually do it yourself. What is best on this kind of mentality is you get to improve on your lifestyle as well because you know that if something is up, you can fix it all by yourself.
Having DIY projects should also serve as a good hobby, especially for men. You get to find your creativity and have something new inside the house at the same time. It is like winning a DIY sweepstakes because you simply get to hit two things at the same time, sometimes even three if your wife or anybody else inside the house gets to like your finished product.
It also helps if you have the tools because they are definitely great investments to have. By the time that you got all good tools, that would also be the time that you can do just about anything involving home improvements without overspending a lot of stuff. With Internet as your guide, you should not do wrong while doing your projects and also get economically stable.
The Decade that was the 60s
There is nothing like a nice weekend, listening to oldies music while drinking your favorite beverage in the terrace on a warm summer. It is seemingly the usual case, especially during Sundays. Another common genre would be country music, well at least inside our house. We would normally have our classic CDs and have them playing on the radio or look for a radio station that would play such kind of music.
Whether you admit it or not, it is definitely soothing to listen to those classic tunes on a lazy afternoon. Songs from the likes of Elvis Presley, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, and Buddy Holly would simply get your nerves relaxed and your mood swiftly go calm as you listen to the melody.
I personally find the 60s to be great. With the likes of Beatles and other great bands, it is surely a great decade for music. It was the era where Rock was born. 1960′s History gave way to the all time greats. Pop music steadily grew to be controlled by new young “vocal” groups, where the combination of the artist’s charisma and the songwriting capabilities of the production team behind the scenes were involved. This change eventually made rock artists to write and produce their own songs that gradually gave way to the likes of Marvin Gaye, Brian Wilson, and Lennon & McCartney.
At the onset of the decade, the music scene was heavily dominated by American artists, until 1963, the same year when JFK was assassinated, Beatlemania came. It was the British Invasion and they were not denied of greatness, only leave Beach Boys and Four Seasons to survive the wave of the Red Coats. The American bands started to sound like the Brits with the likes of Knickerbockers, Beau Brummels, Buckinghams, Sir Douglas Quintet, and Turtles.
On that very same decade came great photographers. The one who has played a big part to help shape up the 60s was David Bailey. He helped alter the art of photography by foreseeing other movements and styles before everybody else had envisioned them. It was the era where photographer would become as popular as the people they shoot because of the innovative ways that photographers would use. The era paved the way to what we see today and most of the techniques that were done during that time are still being used and improve in today’s time. 60s was truly a decade to behold.
Simple Wedding Photography Rules
Weddings are easily the event that would require good photographers as people love keeping mementos of the things that they have shared in a wedding celebration. I remember when I was covering a wedding for the first time; I had a lot of struggles as I was the only official photographer in sight. It was a big mistake on my part and I should have used all the wedding resources that I could get to make my job easier. The very first rule to make in this case is to make sure that you always have a second photographer. It does not have to be another one walking around the reception. You could, at the very least, hire a wedding photo booth as this will make the life of your official photographer easier as he can easily just concentrate on shooting the candid moments. It would also be wise to create a shot list. It can be as easy as asking the wedding couple on the scenes that they want to be photographed so you know that you will not be missing out on anything that they want. It would be advisable, especially with family shots so you would not forget anybody from the family and friends.
Nikon D7000 DSLR
Nikon has certainly made its mark in the photography industry by becoming one of the top DSLR producers in the world today. Their newest model, Nikon D7000, is already making waves in the market today. It is certainly a great improvement from its predecessors the D90 and D300S. However, the D7000 is a lot more of a close match to the D90 for its overall feel. The camera itself has a magnesium alloy body shell and slightly thicker rubber coating on the hand grip and rear of the camera. D7000 also gives the second highest resolution of any Nikon DSLR, behind only the 24Mp D3X with its 16.2Mp resolution.
They are all packed onto a newly developed CMOS sensor, which is almost very similar to the one that Sony Alpha SLT-A55 has. If you think the D90 was already a great catch, D7000 offers even more in terms of features, while maintaining its user-friendly feel. What’s best with this is that the elements of D90 and D300S were stunningly combined to make sure that you get everything you want from a Nikon camera. Overall, there is nothing bad to be said about this new camera and if you really want something that will give all your needs.
Why Have a Tripod?
The moment that you already have your DSLR and the perfect lens to go with it, the next important step to do is to find a nice tripod to complete your set. Some people might knock the need of having a tripod as most of them would say that they do not really need it because they have their “steady” hands to handle it. However, professional photographers will tell you that the importance of having a tripod is far greater than not having one. The simplest reason to have a tripod is when you want to take a picture with you in it. It is a self explanatory thing that most would agree. It is also the best tool to make sure that motion blur can be reduced as shaky hands can always ruin a shot. Believe it or not, a good tripod can also be used to increase blur if you want your picture to have that kind of effect. The proper exposure will need a low shutter speed, and a tripod is the best way to maintain a crisp photograph when not using flash. The most important reason to have is that it allows you to experiment with exposures easily.
Night Photography Basics
Playing with the light effect, especially at night, can be hard but with proper lenses and tripod it should at least be easier. Night photography is trickier than taking shots at broad daylight. For one, you do not get the luxury of simply taking out your camera and shoot everything right away because you have the sun in all of its glory to thank. As mentioned above, tripod is a good tool to have when shooting at night. It may not always be necessary to have it but it will always provide you the greatest flexibility to get your angles, as well as mixing up the exposure that you want to achieve. Wide angle lenses can also work well during night time.
They have the ability to catch different angles and still give you the effects that you want. A lens hood can also come in handy as it can minimize the lens flares from the light entering at angles outside your frame. Having a flashlight handy can also do wonders for your shots. It works well when trying to put more emphasis on a particular angle or spot of your subject. Lastly, bring tons of imagination as a good photographer always needs to have visuals in his head before taking a shot.
Glamour and Photography
Whether you are in broad daylight or all you have is the light from the moon, fashion or glamour photography is arguably the most popular artistic photography around. When doing this, always remember that fashion photography should always express a fundamental nature of influence, so your direction of the model needs to be confident and self-assured. Expressing anxieties, whether intentional or not, stress, or lack of direction will be reflected in the presentation of your model so get your subject involved more and give him or her the feel of comfort. It should also help if you organize a list first before taking pictures and rehears methods and composition if time allows it so you can create the shots in your mind. Preparation of the location, props and clothes ahead of time if it is a photo shoot will give you the advantage that you need to get the best pictures possible. Keep in mind that fashion photography relies mainly on clothes and beauty so see to it that you have all the elements of the scene and the model to reflect its art. You can always reinvent yourself with this with a good preparation. Just make sure you have everything you need before you start taking shots.
Single Light
While fashion photography is very popular, one light photography can be considered as the most challenging as you need to create the perfect image in your mind using only a single light. One way of making sure that you get what you want from a single light subject would be to have a tripod. You can use a low ISO, set your exposure mode to either program, aperture priority, shutter speed priority, or manual mode, with program mode being the more convenient option. If in case you do not have a tripod, make sure that you set your camera to high ISO because the idea is to have more noise than camera shakes. If you are taking a shot of a nonstationary subject, higher ISO and bigger aperture will do the job done better. For taking exposure reading for single light source, an easier approach is to use center weighted metering and then under expose the image by a stop or two. Just be sure to put into consideration on appreciating how the single light source result in the subject being side lit, back lit, top lit as well as from the various angles, therefore creating shadow and highlight areas.
